Check a resale margin before you buy

“Listed for €140” does not mean “sold for €140.” Keep the evidence for the expected sale separate from the price you are paying.

Find comparable sold evidence

Compare the exact model, variant and condition, then check the date and market of each sold reference. An active retail offer is an asking price, not evidence of a completed sale. A bundle, damaged item or different size can distort the comparison.

Flip Finder labels manually supplied references as user-reported. They are not verified transactions. The workbench requires three matched references before showing an estimate, and high confidence requires ten consistent licensed references. Automatic completed-sale feeds are not connected today.

Write down every assumption

Keep purchase cost, delivery, selling fees, outgoing shipping and a contingency reserve beside the expected resale price. Confirm the applicable marketplace fee yourself: fees vary, and the home calculator’s editable example is not a provider fee schedule.

Hypothetical calculation

€140 expected resale − €20 purchase − €14.35 selling fees − €12 total shipping − €7 reserve = €86.65 estimated net before tax and your time.

This assumes a 10% selling fee plus €0.35 fixed and a 5% reserve. It is an illustration, not a real listing, completed sale or promised return.

Try a less optimistic sale price

Use the calculator to lower the expected resale price or increase shipping. If a small change removes the margin, the purchase depends heavily on your assumptions. Account for missing accessories or repairs in your research, and avoid treating unknown costs as zero.

The calculator does not calculate your taxes, value your time or predict how long an item will take to sell. An item may never sell. Its displayed margin is a research estimate, not realized income.

Keep the research with the find

Save the source URL, observed price, description, condition and sold references together. Update a stale price before revisiting the decision. Export your research from Account if you want your own copy of the evidence and assumptions.
